ABOUT US
THE EARLY DAYS
In 1969 work began to determine the length direction and width of Elmsett Airfield. It was grassed in 1970 and lights were installed for night flying in 1971. Tony Gray flew a Cessna 175 at the time G-ARMN and in 1973 installed an aviation fuel tank enabling crop-spraying Companies to operate from the airfield. Maintenance of the resident and visitors aircraft commenced in 1974 and in 1975 commercial flights were logged with the CAA from Elmsett. By 1976 the airfield was used for medical flights and the first transplant organs were flown abroad.
THE HAY DAYS
In 1980 Elmsett Airfield received AOC approval and by 1982 ground station approval was given and preceded the 130.9
radio frequency that is now used. The airfield received its CAA License in 1997.
